About the work
PLAY WITH ME #1 returns to childhood, to play and to family gatherings around board games. The work uses play as a metaphor for the choices made throughout life and for the tension between chance and free will. Imagined as a roulette of dreams and possibilities, it asks whether we accept what is given to us or choose our own direction. The piece also incorporates the outline stitch associated with the earliest Arraiolos tapestries of the 16th century.
