HIDE & SEEK

HIDE & SEEK continues the line of research begun with BOADICEA around the female figure and the idea of the warrior woman. Its construction moves away from flat tapestry, using folds, stitches worked in different directions and two suspended legs. The work also uses the outline stitch associated with the earliest Arraiolos tapestries of the 16th century, allowing greater fluidity in curved forms. The figure appears in the act of leaping, between hiding and moving forward. Courage and the decision to leave a place of discomfort are central to the work.
