HELIA

HELIA was developed following an invitation to create a work inspired by the Sun for the textile biennial in Kranj, Slovenia. The piece uses the outline stitch associated with the earliest Arraiolos tapestries of the 16th century. Measuring approximately 180 cm in diameter, it is built from around 148,000 stitches, turning repetition and accumulated manual time into an essential part of the work.
