CASA DE PARTIDA

CASA DE PARTIDA emerges from a cycle of artistic residencies developed in Lisbon, Torrão, Coruche and Arraiolos, centred on collaborative creation and the sharing of textile knowledge. With the support of Arraiolos City Council and CITA, the process involved more than 50 participants — over 100 hands — in the collective production of textile elements connected to the identities, stories and contributions of each community. The work affirms the Arraiolos stitch as a contemporary artistic language while preserving the outline stitch associated with the earliest Arraiolos tapestries of the 16th century.
