CO-CREATIVE RESIDENCY — TORRÃO

The residency took place in September 2023 in the village of Torrão, Alentejo, and culminated in the public presentation of a work created with 17 participants aged between 45 and 82. Through a technique rooted in Portuguese textile heritage, the project sought to create a renewed sense of purpose through collective making. Artist and participants developed the tapestry together, sharing stories, traditions, art, ancestral knowledge and affection. The process became an intergenerational exchange and a reflection on how cultural heritage can be preserved through transformation and contemporary use.
