ARTISTIC RESIDENCY — TALLINN

During a month-long residency in Tallinn, Estonia, in October 2022, Susana Cereja was challenged to work with textile processes that were new to her practice, particularly tapestry and weaving. The programme imposed no fixed scale or theme, allowing the work to develop through experimentation throughout the residency. Part of the work produced in Tallinn was subsequently presented in Tartu in the group exhibition ELUOLULINE. That material and experience later became part of GAIA, connecting the residency in Estonia with the artist’s ongoing investigation of textile language, collective making and the Arraiolos tradition.
