TRADIÇÃO Z

Susana Cereja was featured in episode 6 of RTP1’s Tradição Z, broadcast on 20 January 2026. The 29-minute programme follows presenter Lara Lopes across Portugal in search of a younger generation keeping traditions alive by transforming them rather than treating them as something fixed in the past.

The episode travels from a moliceiro tradition in Murtosa to Susana’s studio context in Mafra, where her work with the Arraiolos stitch is presented as a contemporary reinvention of Portuguese textile heritage, before continuing to a beekeeping story in Montoito. Susana’s segment focuses on the way she moves the stitch beyond its conventional domestic and decorative context through new scales, materials and artistic forms.
