FIVE QUESTIONS TO SUSANA CEREJA
About
New & Abstract invited Susana Cereja to answer five questions about her path into art, the language of her work, her creative process, influences and future plans. The interview moves from architecture and drawing to the central role that Arraiolos tapestry had taken in her practice.
Susana describes a process that begins with drawing and develops through technical studies before production, while remaining open to change. She also speaks about colour, community projects and influences ranging from Andy Warhol and David Hockney to Picasso, Anni Albers and Nancy Spero, and identifies artistic residencies and community-based work as directions she wanted to continue exploring.
