About the exhibition
The exhibition "Unfolding - A Creative Process Trail" by the young Portuguese artist Susana Cereja took place at the Gamara Art Gallery from October 30, 2021, to January 22, 2022. This exhibition showcases the multidisciplinary nature of a work where research, diversity, and versatility of media have a predominant character.
Through this exhibition, Susana Cereja presents us with a renewed perspective on the recovery and development of ancestral methods of artistic production.
Woodcut, polychrome plaster, and Arraiolos stitch (a technique used in the production of tapestry) are some of the methods she revisits for the field of contemporary art, restoring them to the place of excellence they once occupied in Portuguese culture.
On display until January 22, 2022, "Unfolding" bears witness to the heterogeneous creative process that Susana Cereja has developed between 2017 and the present day.
Through the 30 works comprising this exhibition, we journey through, piece by piece, the different disciplines and techniques that the artist has invoked year after year. As we progress through the exhibition, we ultimately reach "Headway," which, in its composite complexity, assumes the role and condition of an epilogue.
